Our famous market town of Melton Mowbray is surrounded by 70 villages in beautiful Leicestershire countryside. Together, town and country make up Melton Borough, a fantastic place to live and work. We have a colourful history rooted in farming and food but we also have a strong record of manufacturing success.
Melton is centrally located just an hour and a half from London by train. The cities of Nottingham and Leicester are just half an hour away. Buses connect to Leicester city, Loughborough, Nottingham, Grantham, Oakham, Uppingham, Stamford and Peterborough.

Melton Mowbray has a vibrant town centre with independent businesses representing a high proportion of businesses. The historic high street includes many quirky shops selling vintage style home accessories, clothing, books and gifts. Most of the town centre shops can be found around the market place. Nottingham Street is also the home to Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe, which sells the town’s famous speciality.

A Market which attracts farmers and visitors from all over the country
Melton’s other big shopping attraction is its markets. Tuesday hosts our famous livestock Market which attracts farmers and visitors from all over the country. Tuesday and Saturday are also our street market days, whilst on Wednesday a bric-a-brac and antique market is held.
Melton is home to a host of national and regional events including the British Pie Awards, Midsummer Music Festival, Victorian Christmas weekend and the Artisan Cheese Fair.
Country park just 10 minutes from town
Melton County Park and Visitor Centre has over 140 acres of beautiful parkland just 10 minutes form the town centre which is perfect for walking, cycling, bird-watching and family picnics.
There are numerous picturesque villages throughout Melton Borough, many with thriving communities with traditional pubs, village halls, schools and shops.
